Supporting Great Ormond Street Childrens' Hospital Theatrical Fun The Friends Of The Devonshire Park Theatre..... .... were formed in 1984 for the benefit of the theatre building and to support theatre going in general. Garden parties, fetes , other events and the small annual membership fee are all regular methods of fund raising. Membership benefits include discounts on tickets for certain performances, the opportunity to meet the cast after most first night performances. Also member only celebrity talks, lunches with the theatre’s famous patrons, quiz nights, 100 Club and more. A quarterly newsletter, Park Scene, is published to keep members informed of forthcoming events and includes exclusive interviews with artists and theatre staff. The Friends are a very popular choice for those who have recently retired in Eastbourne and who are looking for new things to do to make their retirement interesting and to keep active. Personally, I would like to see more under 50’s joining the Friends. That is why on this site I am concentrating more on the aspects which may attract that age group. Such as the shows, the artists we get the opportunity to meet and  the entertainment at social events which is aimed at all age groups. Like many under 50’s we are not really into annual dinner dances, tea parties, and the like but we still get great value from our membership. I hope this site helps convey that to potential younger members? If you would like to join me in chatting about Eastbourne theatres (not solely the Devonshire Park) why not join my facebook page?
